Parklet for the UNESCO City of Design.

Graz is famous for many things, but not yet as a Mecca of surfers.
Unlike the home country of Accoya timber in New Zealand, you can at best get your feet wet in these parts along the River Mur – and even that is reserved for the few.
Putting on a wetsuit and lugging the surfboard around here are in any case likely to leave you with an annoying aftertaste. From now on, you can surf even in dry conditions. Cool as a cucumber with a drink in hand, alone or in a group, no wetsuit or surfboard needed. A wooden wave now washes over the streets full of parked cars and invites passers-by to “city surf”. No surfing experience required.
surfing possibilities in Graz are limited. The concept “Surfin’ Graz” wants to change this.

Where there is a will, there`s a wave!

The design is inspired by ergonomic thoughts and tries to create a connection to the material of the parklets, the New Zealand Accoya wood. Unlike in the home country of Accoya wood, the surfing possibilities in Graz are limited. The concept “Surfin’ Graz” wants to change this.

A place to celebrate.

In honor of the 10th UNESCO of Design anniversary of the city of Graz, we try to use simplicity and elegance to catch the attention of passing users and awaken their interest in design.
